What is your drive to wake up in the morning?
People automatically think you’re a morning person because you have to get up for work in the morning. Yes, but that’s not quite it. There came a point in my life where I felt like I was missing out on an entire day if I woke up at 10, 11, or 12pm. I felt as though the tasks I needed to do I can take care of as soon as possible. I wouldn’t have to run into traffic, I wouldn’t have to feel guilty, and I wouldn’t get behind.
I don’t know about you but I hate traffic. I don’t like sitting in it. I don’t like people being in my way when they’re either walking across the parking lot or they’re moving 10 miles an hour because either they don’t know where they’re going or they don’t know how to drive.
You can say that I was tired of being in that situation. I knew there was a way to change it. I knew that if I didn’t want to go through this, I would need to get up at a certain time to not run into those problems. I knew the ball was in my court.
This is one of many things that we do have control over but we decide it’s a part of life. Is it though or is it just a part of your life? Is it something you’re allowing because you don’t want to get up early in the morning?
It’s also a preparation thing. You have goals you want to attain. You have businesses you want to create and build. The aspirations you have for your life, requires sacrifices. The things you used to do, you can’t do anymore. In order to get the results you’re looking for, you need to change and a lot of times, that’s waking up early in the morning.
Mindset: When you wake up in the morning, most times you’re groggy. It usually doesn’t matter if you went to sleep early or if you went to sleep late but just you taking the time to allow (sometimes subconsciously) negative thoughts to enter before your feet touch the floor, the positive mood you could’ve had, didn’t stand a chance.
What I personally do is pray every time I wake up because I want God to know how important and how much He means to me. I want to make Him my first priority. I also know that when I put God first, my entire day will be great. It’s kind of like amplifying that protection you have already. God is already protecting you. He’s surrounding you but now you want to make sure your mind is protected, your thoughts are protected.
I also read the verse of the day on the YouVersion Bible app, and then I’ll read the devotional for the day, in “The Confident Woman” by Joyce Meyer. This helps set the tone for my day.
Now don’t get me wrong. You will still have bad days, you will still have days you just want to stay in bed but you want to make a habit of intentionally starting your day on the right page.
Love,
Janelle
P.S. Don't forget to share your thoughts. I would love to hear from you.
