How to Free Up Time for the Weekend

I know it’s almost the weekend and oh how much we love that! It feels like a weight lifted off of our shoulders when the word Friday pops up as the current day. However, when Sunday rolls around, we go crazy with our leisure time. We want to binge watch everything and put everything on pause until the very last hours of the day.

The question I always ask myself when trying to figure out how to get a better grip on Sunday is how to prepare for Monday? There are a few ways to leisure and still have enough time to spend soaking up the sun and relaxing on a Sunday.

First, keep order, stay focused, and finish everything for the new week.  That’s right. If you want to have more time on Sunday to just enjoy it, you have to do a little more than you normally would on the day(s) before. It will require you to tough it out. Whatever your strategy is to scheduling your day, you have to keep that same energy to get it done.

Just think about it.  If you were able to get everything done a day, two days, or a week in advance before, then you can do it now.  Don’t allow your brain to go on vacay mode until you finish your task.  I know it’s hard but you’re disciplining yourself.  You’re reconditioning your brain to know that in order for me to have a relaxing time and do nothing on a Sunday, I need to crank it out and get my tasks done ahead of time.

How can you do this?

Keep your head down and focus.  With so much go on around you it’s hard to stay focused.  I don’t know what it’s like just yet to have kids and a husband constantly asking questions lol but I do know when people should be respectful of your time. My mom loves to talk and because I’m her only child, she sometimes likes to talk to me about everything but when I’m working or having prayer time, I tell her I need this time alone and I’ll talk to you afterwards.

You have to let people know that what you’re doing is important and what you’re doing is a huge contributing factor to the family and the perks to having a great life and enjoying activities.

If you’re prone to watching tv, go into a quiet and secluded place where there are no distractions.  The faster you get it done, the faster you can do the things you want to do.  Make this a reward system for yourself.

If you’re one to always be on social media, especially if that’s a part of your business, put your phone in a place where it’s out of your reach and eyesight during the time you’re trying to complete tasks.

You can do this! It just takes discipline and repetition.  When you aren’t able to get as much done as you want, try it again the next day.  Keep trying until you get it and you’re able to accomplish everything in a day.

What you’re training yourself and your mind to do is not wait until the last minute to complete tasks.  You already have so much on your plate, why add more?

This is also a good way to spend more time with family.  I know when my mom came to visit, I was on my phone so much that I didn’t allow quality time for her and I was trying to get content done at the last minute...which was torture.  I vowed not to do that again.  I learned, the first time you do it, your family will forgive you but don’t make it a habit.

Create more of a healthy habit and schedule tasks ahead of time, even if it's a day ahead of schedule.  As long as you’re not doing it at the last minute and you’re creating that time for “family time” only.

I hope this helps.  If you have more to add, please comment below.  I can’t wait to hear from you!!

Janelle
