Seeking the Right Help

Why are we purchasing these self-help books for guidance, why are we going to seminars to listen to people speak for an hour, why are we going to therapy for our issues, why are we paying for how-to programs on social media, why are doing all of these things when we can go to God for help?

Read this carefully. It’s okay for us to do any of this. Nothing is wrong with it but there comes a time in our life where we look at how often we’re doing this.

We’ve now gotten to the point where we go to others for help more if not all of the time before we go to God. We ask people to fix our problems because we’re looking for a quick “fix-all” solution to a problem we’ve had for years.

God asks us in Isaiah 55:2-4, “Buy without money-everything’s free! Why do you spend your money on junk food, your hard-earned cash on cotton candy?”

Deciding to go to God with your problems, you don’t have to pay a thing. This is an exclusive, all paid opportunity you get when you call on Him.

In other ways, we think God wouldn’t get it. He wouldn’t understand. If I go to someone, they will give me what I need right away. Just because you receive an answer doesn’t mean it’s always the right answer. What you’re looking for is a temporary solution for a long time problem. Or if it was the right answer, you received a great word, you received a great solution to work things out to your problem but then what? What do you do about the other days that come after that? You try to use that same solution to every problem. Now you’re searching for that same person to help fill a void that's unfillable.

People can’t be with you every single day to help you through what you may be going through but God can. Have you tried talking to Him? Have you given Him your problem?

A pastor, a therapist, a speaker, a family member, a friend can’t be with you every step you take. They give you what you need for you to take it and apply it to your life. They’ve done their part to help and provide guidance in the best way but now it’s up to you to put what they’ve given you into action. When they aren’t there to help you, which is truly the remaining days of the week, seek God. “Seek God while He’s here to be found, pray to Him while He’s close at hand.” Isaiah 55:6

“I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.” God’s decree. For the sky soars high above the earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think.” Isaiah 55: 8-9

People can only see what you tell them but God can see beyond your circumstances and your thoughts.

Please take the time to voice your opinion but keep it classy. I want to know what you have to say and if you’ve been in this situation.

Love,

Janelle
