You may have not thought about these simple, yet most important ways to keep your entire body hydrated. What I’ve learned from being an athlete is that there is so much that goes into making sure you prepare your body for these vicious rays.
Skin: Your skin is the most important part of your body. It already does such an incredible job of protecting you from cuts, bruises, and so many other things by healing so quickly. Now it’s time for you to give back to your skin. This is a way you can thank your skin for always looking out for you. Sunscreen.
Protect your skin from the harmful sun rays that can truly harm not only your skin but your organs as well. Sunscreen plays a vital role of protecting us from long term damage. So it doesn’t matter if you’re not trying to get a tan or you are, or you don’t really plan on being in the sun long. You still need to wear protection.
Also, whoever said wearing sunscreen only in the summer or only Caucasians need to wear it, were wrong. Sunscreen is helpful to all skin types and it’s important to wear it every single day. Remember, the sun doesn’t just come out in the Spring and Summer.
Lastly, sunscreen helps decrease hyperpigmentation. Yep, that’s right. I didn’t know this myself for a while until my Dermatologist told me. I actually apply it right on my darker spots on my face and in a few days, the discoloration disappears.
Electrolytes: Make sure to have electrolytes in your body. Again, being an athlete, I learned a lot. I thought all I needed was water but your body is already made up of 70% water. You need something to balance that and what’s a good way to do that? Sugar!! Yes, sugar is a great electrolyte that is found in Gatorade or Powerade or any kind of sporty drink. It will make you feel so much better and provide you with the energy you need.
Lips: My lips will become dry and crack if I don’t moisturize them as needed. I’ve been applying Chapstick: Total Hydration 3 in 1 lip care. It does wonders to my lips. I reapply this all of the time as if it’s going out of style.
Eyes: Make sure you don’t forget to blink. That’s it. Take the time to unwind and relax. Step away from your phone for a few hours and enjoy nature or the company of other people. Get away and explore. Live your life. You only get one.
I hope this helps and encourages you!!
