Bedding Secrets: Getting the Best Quality for Your Buck

It’s Springtime and Summer is just around the corner, which means that if you haven’t changed those heavy bed sheets yet, you’re going to want to very soon.  I have a few tips to share in making sure you choose the best bedding for those hot nights.  It’s important to know what kind of bedding to purchase and what’s too cheap to bear.

You don't want to have a bedding set that’s too pretty to sleep in, you want comfort.  I know it’s hard in making sure you purchase the right bedding.  I have a few tips you want to read about and no they won’t cost you two arms and a leg to get this kind of quality.

If you haven’t watched my most recent IG story about sheets in particular, no worries, you can head there after reading this.  Here, I’ll provide you with more in depth understanding where and why purchasing the right sheets are so important.

First, you don’t want to purchase sheets just because they’re cheap because all you will get is cheap quality.  Sometimes you have to spend some money to get what you want but then there are other times when you don’t have to spend over $100...unless you’re that kind of person who wants a particular thread count, in a particular color, and a particular brand, from a particular store.

If that’s not you, keep on reading.

You got this!  Don’t worry I got you!!

Anyway, I’ve done a lot of shopping...I mean a lot of research trying to get the best sheets without breaking the bank because guess what?  I ain’t got it like that and even if I did, I would want to keep some money in my pocket.

A lot of people say it’s okay to spend money on your bedding to make sure you get that soft and luxurious feel and sometimes that’s true but just like makeup, just because it’s a luxury brand, doesn’t mean you’re laying on luxury.  Sometimes what you’re doing is paying for the brand itself and once again nothing is wrong with that.  That’s your prerogative.

However, if you are like me and want luxury but don’t like the luxury price tag, here are some stores you can afford to purchase from:

HomeGoods

Old Time Pottery

At Home

TJ Maxx

Marshalls

Target

Bed Bath and Beyond

Walmart

Now, I chose these brands because I shop here and I know you do too but you’ve probably been in these stores searching and purchasing other items but not bedding.

The comforter I currently have is from HomeGoods!! I know right?!  I love this comforter.  The pillow covers are from Target and the sheets are also from Target.  I also have a pair of sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond.

You see this amazing quality?  Awesome right?

My comforter came by itself and it was only $60. You probably say what?  How?  This isn’t only great quality but also a great brand (Eddie Bauer).  I wanted something that looked luxurious and felt luxurious but saved me money.  I was also looking for white.  I’ve wanted a white comforter for the longest time and finally got it.  So yes, I also paid for the color.

Another thing to think about is, wherever you are, browse different locations.  I know this may sound crazy and like a lot of work but if you think about it, you can save yourself some money.  Different cities surrounding you will have different price tags and different tax rates.

Right now, where I live, there isn’t a HomeGoods so I will personally drive to get to one and the closest one is in Asheville, NC.  Their tax rate compared to where I live is cheaper.  If I decide to go to another city near me, the tax rate and the price of an item at a Sam’s Club will be cheaper than the Sam’s club within a 10 mile radius of me.

I know, this is an extra bonus for you :)

I purchased my sheets for like $29 at Target.  They definitely have great quality especially when their home decor can be a bit pricey.  It’s so soft, 60% cotton and 40% polyester and it’s still lightweight.

Important Message!!

If you didn’t know this about sheets, now you do.  I was talking to my great aunt one day and she told me that sheets, comforters, anything that has microfiber in it, is something you don’t want to get.  Not only is heap, it’s cheap for a reason.  She’s had issues with her microfiber sheet set, she once purchased.  She told me, one day she put them in the washer and then placed them in the dryer and all of sudden as she took them out, there were balls of fiber everywhere.  There were so many, she couldn’t get them all.  She eventually threw it away and never purchased them again.  She said she got it because it was cheaper and they appeared to be nice.  Now, I’m not sure where she purchased them but I took her word for it.  She told me not to purchase any for myself and I did just that.

I’m here to warn you that not all things that are cheap are still good quality and not all things that are expensive are good quality.  Just be mindful of what you’re purchasing.  If you need to read the reviews, read about the particular fibers.  Is it 100% cotton, is there linen, is it made from an animal?  What’s the particular count.  Just like you pay attention to what you put in your body, pay attention to what you place on your body.  You also may be allergic to certain fibers.  Just please do your due diligence.

I hope this wasn’t too long for you but I hope it was educational.  Anytime I learn something new, I love to share it with you.  If you thought this was helpful, please comment below.  I’d love to hear from you.
